By day, Doug Curtis is a graphic designer, family man and caricature artist well known in the Wadena area. On the side, he draws out the story of a caped superhero in homage to the comics that inspired him as a kid – and eventually publishes them on the internet.

Firehouse Apartments filling quickly on Highway 10

The new Firehouse Apartments on U.S. Highway 10 just west of Wadena are open for rent. Tim and Christina Theisen, owners of Theisen Construction, purchased the old Country Manor motel building in 2011 and remodeled it inside and out to convert the rooms into mostly studio apartments.

The Wadena area now has a newly-designated space for artists to meet, learn, teach, display and sell their designated arts interests. The Center for the Arts has just begun its initial stages in the 4,000 square foot lower level of the Bernauer building, located on Jefferson Street.
